Residential Assistance Options
Host Home / Companion Care
Support in a residence shared by the individual and the host home/companion care provider, when authorized and available.
Residential Support
Support in an approved three- or four-person residence owned or leased by the program provider, with staffing based on program requirements.
Supervised Living
Support in an approved three- or four-person residence, with the level and schedule of assistance defined by the authorized plan and program requirements.
Own or Family Home
Authorized in-home, community, CFC, respite, nursing, therapy, ISS, employment, and transportation supports may help a person remain in their own or family home.

- Privacy and dignity in personal care, communication, belongings, and relationships
- Meaningful choice in routines, meals, activities, community access, visitors, and personal space
- Health and safety supports matched to the individual’s assessed needs

A Thoughtful Match—Never an Automatic Placement.
Before any residential service begins, United Hands reviews the authorized plan, assessed needs, preferences, compatibility, staffing, accessibility, medical and behavioral support requirements, emergency planning, setting readiness, and current capacity. A visit or preselection process may be arranged when appropriate. United Hands will not accept a placement when it cannot safely and responsibly meet the person’s needs.

United Hands is welcoming applications from compassionate adults interested in becoming Host Home/Companion Care providers. Qualified providers share their residence with an HCS participant and support daily routines, safety, skill building, relationships, and community life.
Every approval and match depends on screening, qualifications, home readiness, training, the individual’s informed choice and authorized plan, compatibility, and United Hands’ current needs. No applicant or placement is guaranteed.
Host Home/Companion Care is an HCS residential option and is not part of TxHmL.
